Synopsis of the Iranian TV show

“Golshifteh”

Golshifteh is a 2017 Iranian comedy-drama directed by Behrouz Shoaibi. The series tells the story of four women from very different backgrounds. Each of them struggles with personal and social challenges, yet their paths eventually cross, leading to unexpected connections and solidarity.

Goli

The story begins with Goli Delgosha, a brilliant girl from Yazd who ranks first in the national math exam and dreams of studying architecture in Tehran. Her father, Habib Delgosha—a traditional architect who has devoted his life to overprotecting her since the death of his wife—strongly opposes the idea of her leaving town. Unable to let go, he secretly follows her all the way to Tehran, to her dorm, and even to the university.

Rahele

Raheleh Golshifteh, the newly appointed dean of the faculty, is under immense pressure to host the university’s opening ceremony. The minister is expected to attend, and the top exam scorer—Goli—is supposed to give a speech. But Goli’s clumsiness, her father’s intrusive presence, and a music band that suddenly switches from classical to rap turn the event into pure chaos, to the point that the ceremony can’t even properly begin.

Outside her academic role, Raheleh is also locked in constant conflict with her husband, Fouad Afshar (Deputy Minister of Sports), over their inability to have children.

Mozhgan

Mozhgan Mirzaei, a professional wushu champion, has been selected to compete internationally, but her husband, Zia Sharifi, refuses to let her travel alone and insists on tagging along as her “personal coach”.

Saeede

Saeedeh Rastkardar, a young woman who has recently transitioned, finds herself deprived of her inheritance when her brother, Vahid, seizes the entire estate after their father’s death.

Despite their different paths, the challenges these four women face draw them together, pushing them toward solidarity and the beginning of a new journey.
